27th Annual International Women’s Day Breakfast
On March 7th, in honor of International Women’s Day, hundreds of feminists came together at Simmons University to celebrate Action in Unity.
It was incredibly powerful to have Mayor Wu join us with her daughter Mira, just days after testifying at a Congressional Hearing in D.C where she defended Boston’s “Trust Act” and spoke out against federal policies that target immigrants and communities of color. Her leadership, along with the many other feminist leaders in government and our social justice sectors, truly highlighted the strength of our collective movement. The energy in the room was inspiring, and the speakers’ bold visions and real-world successes in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts reminded us of the critical work that lies ahead.
Especially in these times of fear-mongering and resistance, it is vital that we stand united in action. Now is the time for white women and individuals with privilege to step up as allies, challenging injustice and committing to deep solidarity with those most affected. Together, we have the power to build a better, more inclusive world—one where everyone has a voice, and no one is left behind.
