The Rights Of All Americans Are At Risk.

Dear Mass NOW members,

With confirmation by the US Supreme Court that the leaked draft opinion would indeed overturn Roe v. Wade, the rights of all Americans are at risk.

The federal right to access to abortion without restriction by state mandate is a right for women, yes, but it is a right for humanity as a whole. It is a protection to all regardless of declared gender, age, race, or class. 

To be certain, the loss of this right leads to guaranteed restrictions of freedoms that will impact certain individuals harder than others such as people with uterus', youth, the disenfranchised, the unhoused, those who fall within the poverty margin, and immigrants, to name a few. But it will also impact those we deem powerful, men, those beyond child-bearing, and the so-called one-percent. Because someone has to bear the burden of policing such strict reforms, financing the punishments, and overseeing the charge of tattling on those smeared guilty.

This is a movement in the making. Abortion bans in many states have already been forming across the country in preparation for this moment, putting countless people at risk just because of where they live. 

This federal right can still be protected by an act of Congress under the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021(H.R. 3755), already passed by the House. You can do your part by contacting your US Senator today to get it pushed through the Senate!
