Get Out the Vote! Herstory is being made today.
Dear Mass NOW Community,
Today, Bostonians are voting for one of two women of color as Mayor of the largest city of the State. For the first time in over 90 years, the next Mayor will not be a white man. No matter who wins, herstory is being made. Though we still have a long way to go to reach our goals of constitutional equity and a feminist democracy, I believe our suffragist ancestors would be proud.
If you haven’t already voted early, do you have a voting plan today? You can double check your registration status and nearest polling location on the Secretary of State’s website.

The Mass NOW board is a fun-loving, multi-generational group of committed, vibrant, passionate individuals. We are currently accepting nominations for the following vacancies: VP of Governance, and four at-large board members.
Board Members will ideally have a background in fundraising, grassroots organizing and outreach. A strategic thinker with excellent communication, organization skills, and a commitment to intersectional feminism is a must. Applications are Due Nov 28, 2021. Interviews with the Board’s Election Committee will be the week of Nov 29th + Dec 6th, 2021. Elections will take place at the Annual State Conference on December 12th, 2021. Email massnow@massnow.com with any questions.

Mass NOW Chapter Meeting: Alternatives to Police Violence

This month we’ll be talking about An Act to create alternatives for community emergency services (ACES) SB1552/HB2519 Sponsored by Sen. Chang-Diaz and Rep. Sabadosa. The ACES Act would create a new Alternatives for Community Emergency Services Grant Program through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. This would increase the availability of non-law-enforcement, unarmed community-based emergency response options for calls to 911 in order to help individuals in need, avoid escalation of a crisis situation, and save lives. Mass NOW Chapter Meeting: Drivers licenses for undocumented citizens

Did you know 78% of workers in our Commonwealth rely on personal vehicles to get to work? However, currently in Massachusetts, you can’t get a driver’s license without proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence. For as many as 250,000 undocumented immigrants in our communities, this can create enormous hardships.
Mass NOW has endorsed the Work and Family Mobility Act. This bill would enable all qualified state residents to apply for a standard state driver’s license, regardless of immigrant status, while keeping our Commonwealth in full compliance with REAL ID requirements.
