Inside Mass NOW: Meet Jasmine Lopez

Get to know Jasmine Lopez, our new Fundraising and Operations Coordinator. Lopez holds a Master of Public Health from Boston University with a concentration in Health Law, Bioethics and Human Rights. She joins Mass NOW after serving for six years as Director of Development and Communications for RESPOND, Inc., in Somerville.

Q: What's your favorite feminist quote and why?

A: "Each time a woman stands up for herself without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women."—Maya AngelouThis serves a reminder that in tough situations I must forge ahead—if not for myself, then for all of us. We often feel isolated, left out, or stuck in work, responsibilities, goals, challenges, but we are not.

What inspired you to join Mass NOW?

NOW began as, and still is, a grassroots organization. That is powerful and energizing to me. The MA chapter is run by a team of dedicated volunteers fueled by a shared vision for equality for all women and girls. VOLUNTEERS! Joining was a must. Together, we go further.

Who is your current woman-crush?

Shonda Rhimes! Her drive, success, creativity, passion, fears, humor, leadership, truth, and balance fuel me. She is a self-described single, working Titan- yasss! Her book is a must-read: Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person.
