NOW: Voting rights are under attack in the United States
A message from Terry O'Neill, President, National Organization for Women:Voter suppression, in the form of racial gerrymandering and voter ID laws, has enabled conservatives to win the majority of seats in the House and Senate without receiving a majority of the votes.Worse, last Thursday, Donald Trump passed an executive order establishing the 'Presidential Commission on Election Integrity'. While Trump and his corrupt administration have called this commission an attempt to address voter fraud, it is truly a method to distract the public from real examples of voter suppression. These unconstitutional tactics have led to the disenfranchisement of millions, drastically impacting the voting power of African American and Latino women, low-income individuals, young people, and the elderly. In order to stop voter suppression, we need to hear from you! The 2016 election was the first presidential election without the full protection of the Voting Rights Act, allowing conservatives to suppress the vote of communities of color. In order to craft a representative legislature, we must guarantee that everyone has equal access to the ballot!Click here to sign our petition: every citizen has the right to vote!
