Planned Parenthood President, Marty Walz to speak at Feminist Affair
Mass NOW is proud to announce that Marty Walz will be our keynote speaker for this year's feminist affair!Marty Walz is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM), the state’s leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. As CEO, she leads the organization’s $20 million health care, education and advocacy work. A passionate advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights, she also serves as President of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts.Prior to joining PPLM , Marty represented the 8th Suffolk District as a Massachusetts State Representative for 8 years. Among her many legislative achievements, she was the lead sponsor of the 2007 law that created a 35-foot buffer zone to protect the privacy, dignity, and safety of patients and staff at Planned Parenthood health centers. During her time in the legislature, she championed family planning funding, teen pregnancy prevention programs, comprehensive and age-appropriate health education, and education reform. She is also the author of the state’s anti-bullying law.In addition to her legislative experience, Marty has held leadership positions at non-profit and public organizations, including Jumpstart for Young Children and Boston Public Schools. In an earlier part of her career, Marty worked as an employment attorney. Her volunteer positions have included serving on the Charles River Water Quality Commission, the Kingsley Montessori School Advisory Council, the Women’s Lunch Place Board of Directors and Advisory Committee, and seven years on the NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts Board of Directors. Currently, she is an adjunct professor at Northeastern University in the Political Science Department. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F.
