Roast the Patriarchy
Roasting the Patriarchy is a brief speaking program highlighting local leaders, performers, and legislators. It’s our way of finding catharsis and camaraderie with the experience of fighting for gender equity.
Andi Van Dyke, Emcee
Andi is a drag performer and comedian, the creator of Dyke Fest Boston and co-host of Spill the Chai Drag, an All-SWANA (South West Asian, North African) drag show.
Representative Sam Montaño
Sam Montaño is originally from Los Angeles, CA and after graduation from college, made their way to Boston, MA where they have lived for the last 13 years. Through organizing in their community and getting involved in, and eventually chairing, the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council, Sam decided to run for State Representative in Massachusetts. In September 2022, Sam won a State Representative seat in Jamaica Plain, a neighborhood of Boston and is currently in their second term. With professional experience ranging from affordable housing development to environmental justice they are deeply committed to the power of community and equity. In their free time Sam likes biking, exploring different parts of the city, and crossword puzzles.
Tre’Andre Valentine
Tre’Andre Valentine (he/they) is an immigrant of mixed ancestry from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. They have over 10 years of experience in the anti-violence movement and DEI work specializing in LGBTQ+ inclusion through an anti-oppression framework. Tre’Andre serves on the board of Trans Resistance and the Y2Y Network. He is currently the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition and a member of the Mental Health and Medical Advisory Group for Gender Spectrum. Tre'Andre is the 2021 Lavendar Rhino Award Honoree.

Tax Information: Mass NOW estimates that the fair value market cost of entertainment and food for the Feminist Affair to be $20. This means that any ticket cost higher than the $20 base value is seen as a charitable donation to the Mass NOW Foundation, Inc. (a 50(c)(3) non-profit organization), and is tax deductible. The non-member ticket and non-member 2-pack ticket additionally includes a $15 per-person membership to the Mass NOW, Inc., a 501(c)(4) organization, which is not tax deductible. As such, the breakdown of potential tax deduction per ticket is:
