Mass. NOW seeks a Vice President of Communications! 

The Massachusetts chapter of the National Organization for Women (Mass. NOW) seeks a volunteer VP of Communications to serve on both the Mass. NOW and Mass. NOW Foundation boards. Please see below for information about the position.
 
About the Organizations

Mass. NOW, founded in 1966, is the only multi-issue feminist organization in the state. Mass. NOW Inc. is a 501(c)(4) that conducts legislative and other advocacy efforts to advance the rights of women and girls in Massachusetts. The Mass. NOW
Foundation is a 501(c)(3) educational foundation supporting the non-partisan efforts of the Mass. NOW Inc. and its many local chapters throughout the state. The organizations focus their feminist work on the following priority issue areas: ending violence against women constitutional equality, ending discrimination, promoting civil rights including LGBT rights, racial equality, and economic justice.

t the Volunteer Position

The VP of Communications will serve on the Mass. NOW and Mass. NOW Foundation boards, which are fun-loving all-volunteer, multi-generational boards of committed, vibrant, passionate individuals. Together with Boston NOW, the boards support one paid staff position, who conducts the lobbying advocacy, educational work, and administrative support for the chapters.
 
Preferred Qualifications

The Mass. NOW and Mass. NOW Foundation VP of Communications will ideally have experience with working with the media, implementation a comprehensive social media plan, and excellent writing skills. Excellent organization and communication skills and a commitment to feminist issues are a must.
 
Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Mass. NOW and Mass. NOW Foundation Boards and the State Director, the VP of Communications will:
·         Develop an overall communications strategy for the organization
·         Develop relationships with the media and serve as the media representative
·         Write and distribute press releases
·         Utilize social media to build membership and increase fundraising for the organization
·         Develop print collateral to help build membership for the organization
·         Produce a quarterly e-newsletter to send out to members and supporters
·         Write and edit annual print newsletter that comes out at the end of the year
·         Edit fundraising solicitations and other communications to members and supporters
·         Work with Board members and staff to develop effective messaging for member recruitment and fundraising
 
Time Commitment

6-8 hours per month on average. Attendance at monthly Mass. NOW Inc. executive board meetings and bimonthly Mass. NOW Foundation is required.
